It’s supposed to be 105 today. No big deal right? Don’t worry, double digits are on the horizon. Sometime in the next ten days.
Historically, October has been the best of months and the worst. Growing up it was always my favorite. Leaves changing color, a chill in the air, Halloween! But in more recent years, it has been a hard month. Lots of painful anniversaries including the passing of my sweet mother in law.
But now October is Nora’s birthday month, so that puts a really positive, happy spin on the entire month because I believe birthdays should be a month-long celebration!
Skeleton jammies for my littles! It might seem like such a tiny thing but I cannot even tell you how much I love that as soon as one kiddo puts on their skeleton pjs, the rest all rush to follow suit. (I finally found an adult pair for Cecelia! They’re arriving next week. I can’t wait for all five of them to match!)
I got my first ever bike that’s all my own!! And a bike trailer so Nora and Linc can ride along with me. We’ve gone on several rides already, including a six-mile ride to get ice cream and cheese curds. And as soon as the weather cools down for good, I have grand plans of biking Linc to preschool at least a few days a week.
A friend stopped by with a bouquet of sunflowers, just because! They were such a little ray of sunshine in my kitchen for the next week and a half.
Scott’s sense of humor. He keeps me on my toes! I swore I’d never post a picture of myself in a mask because I’m just not willing to accept that this is normal life, but Scott’s new mask is just too funny to not share. This is from a recent date night. I’m a lucky, lucky lady!
My sister came to town and brought her three-week-old baby with her! It was such a joy to meet my sweet nephew. I snuggled him, helped his umbilical cord come off, used the NoseFrida to relieve his congestion, and photographed him. A lot. So I’m either the best aunt in the world or the worst!
And last but certainly not least, Man Cub turned eight! He was baptized on his birthday in the backyard pool of some of our closest friends. Everything about his baptism was so special. The girls gave a talk and played the piano for the service. He wore an aloha print tie to help him keep his personal style while still wearing a shirt and tie. He drew the picture of Jesus for the cover of his baptism service program. It was really just the perfect celebration of our boy.
Finally watching Hocus Pocus. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it last month! Triple-digit temps and all.
Baby costume parade! I have this weird tradition of dressing my small babies up in costume most days of October. I definitely have enough costume like outfits that Nora can be dressed up for a solid two weeks this month without any repeats.
Halloween!! I don’t know what Halloween will look like this year, but I know I’m breaking my personal “no soda rule” to enjoy some root beer over dry ice. It’s one of my favorite Halloween treats!
My bestie is coming into town for work and a few hours with me. We were supposed to see each other in March but it was right as everything went into shut down and our visit didn’t pan out. I’m glad we finally get to see each other, even if it is just for an afternoon.
Nora’s first birthday! We’ve got some fun plans in the work to celebrate our little lovey.
