There’s something about a new month that just brings me so much hope! I love the fresh start, the new page in my planner.
And also.
I can’t say I’m sorry to bid April farewell. That was one looooooong month. It had it’s good parts, but it felt like it lasted an eternity.
Our garden is thriving! We kept things small this year, but my trees are growing an abundance of fruit. The baby chicks are past their awkward ugly “teenage” phase and turning into pretty hens. With one or two roosters, darn it all. My herb garden has gone wild and our zucchini and watermelon plants are basically on steroids.
We’ve instituted take out night once a week in an effort to help keep some of our favorite small restaurants in business and give me a day off from cooking. This tradition might need to continue forever.
After a 12 year break from playing piano (and never being very good at it anyway!), I decided to take a few minutes a day and practice. It’s working! I’ve learned two hymns that I can play as my family sings while we worship at home right now.
Nora discovered sink baths and she is a BIG fan. Sink baths are becoming an almost daily occurrence at our house and I’m not mad about it one bit.
My new chicken coop! I’ve been planning for and dreaming of this chicken coop for several years now and I’m grateful to Scott and his dad for making my vision a reality. And, I think it’s going to be even better than I had hoped! Cecelia suggested a Dutch door and my father in law ran with the idea! I’ve always wanted a Dutch door on my house, but I’ll totally take it on the chicken coop!
I’m working on a front porch facelift. After photographing some really cute front porches as part of The Front Steps Project, I decided my porch needed some TLC. I ordered a cute bench that arrived this past week. Next up- plants, make a wreath and welcome sign and replace the doormat. It’s going to be amazing!
I’ve been propagating my Monstera plant and the cutting has SO MANY little roots. It won’t be long before I can transplant it and I’m so excited. Have you noticed a trend? How much of my life revolves around plants right now? Kind of crazy since I usually have a black thumb. But I’m being patient and trying to learn and it’s working! Not only am I keeping plants alive, but now they are having little baby plants too!
