I had my first baby over 12 years ago, and my second 3 years later. Birth photography was starting to become “a thing”. But a Fresh 48 hospital newborn session? They were pretty much unheard of! I do remember the hospital photographer knocking on my door to ask if I wanted newborn photos on a splotchy, multicolored background but I politely declined. Generic photographs have never really been my thing, which is why I love Fresh 48 sessions so so much!
Babies change so much in their first hours and days of life.
Fresh 48 sessions earned their name because they typically occur in the first 48 hours of a baby’s life, at the place of birth. If you are delivering at home, or at a birth center where you are released within just a few hours of baby’s arrival, I highly recommend an in-home lifestyle newborn session as a great alternative.
Each Fresh 48 session includes a pre-birth consultation to kick our friendship off right as well as a client guide to prepare you for our time together and answer the most frequently asked questions. Then, once your due date approaches, keep me in the loop so I know when your baby arrives! Once baby is here, have a designated person whose job is to reach out to me and set up the specifics of our session. It can be you, a spouse, or even your mom or sister. Just make sure that person knows to call me so we can schedule our session before you are released from the hospital! And preferably during a time of day when your hospital room will have plenty of natural light.
Each Fresh 48 session lasts about an hour and the images will be very lifestyle based. If you want to plan your session around a specific event, let’s do it! Family members meeting the baby, first bath, Dad’s first diaper change. The options are endless. I would love to document specific firsts for you. Otherwise, I’ll guide you through a few prompts to help us get a well-rounded gallery of images. But for the most part, your job is just to love on and adore your sweet new babe!
The evening after our session, I’ll text you a few images that you can immediately share with family and friends. Then, within a few weeks you’ll have your complete gallery of images. You can expect your gallery to contain details of your hospital room, the relationship between you and your partner and baby, emotions of those who are in the room with you and the small details of your new little one.
More information about Fresh 48 sessions can be found here! And if you’d like to chat about scheduling your own Fresh 48 session, I can be reached here.
